Former Voice contestant Christina Grimmie has died at the age of 22 after being shot following a concert in Orlando, officials in Florida say.
Christina Grimmie was taken to a local hospital tonight in Orlando after being shot by a male suspect, who proceeded to shoot himself.
According to officials, the male attacker opened fire when the singer was signing autographs.
The assailant was tackled by Christina Grimmie’s brother.
In 2014, Christina Grimmie finished third during season six of The Voice.
Police say Christina Grimmie was shot about 22:45 local time on June 10 at The Plaza Live in Orlando.
The attacker, whose name has not been released, had two guns.
A police investigation is now under way.
After news of Christina Grimmie’s hospitalization, The Voice tweeted: “We are heartbroken. @TheRealGrimmie is a loved member of our family. Our thoughts are with her and her family. #PrayForChristina.”
