Yasutaro Koide: World’s Oldest Man Dies Aged 112

World’s oldest man, Yasutaro Koide, has died at the age of 112 in Nagoya, Japan, local officials say.

Yasutaro Koide, who was born on March 13, 1903, was officially named the oldest man by Guinness World Records in August 2015.

Officials said Yasutaro Koide died of heart failure and pneumonia on January 19.

It is not yet clear who succeeds Yasutaro Koide as the oldest man.

The title of world’s oldest person is held by American woman Susannah Mushatt Jones, who is 116 years old.

Susannah Mushatt Jones took the title in 2015 after the death of Misao Okawa in Japan at the age of 117.

The oldest person who has ever lived according to Guinness World Records was Jeanne Calment of France, who lived 122 years and 164 days.

Jeanne Calment died in August 1997.
