Michelle Obama surprises tourists as White House adds Old Family Dining Room to visitor route
The White House has added a new room to the visitor route on February 10, and first lady Michelle Obama greeted tourists as they arrived.
The Old Family Dining Room has been opened to the public for the first time, the White House has announced.
The room was recently refurbished and will be a showcase for 20th century art and design.
The Old Family Dining Room is a smaller dining room situated next to the State Dining Room on the first floor.
The room was created by President John Quincy Adams in 1825 as a place for the first family to eat meals.
Visitors on a tour of the White House on Tuesday, February 10, were left stunned by a surprise appearance from Michelle Obama and former First Daughter Jenna Bush Hager.
Former First Daughter Jenna Bush Hager was present to interview Michelle Obama for the Today show.
At least once a year, Michelle Obama surprises visitors as they take the White House tour.
