Stella McCartney was the big winner of the British Fashion Awards 2012, taking home two major awards.
Stella McCartney, daughter of Sir Paul McCartney and a mother-of-four, was awarded Designer of the Year and Designer Brand of the Year at a star-studded event at London’s Savoy hotel.
The double win follows a momentous year for Stella McCartney, most notably her Team GB kit designs for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Among the winners of the 14 other awards recognizing talent across the fashion industry were Erdem, Nicholas Kirkwood, Roksanda Ilincic and JW Anderson.
Cara Delevingne was named Model of the Year, and Alexa Chung was once again given the British Style Award, which is voted by the public.
Manolo Blahnik was honored for his outstanding achievement in fashion by architect Zaha Hadid, and Harold Tillman CBE was given the Special Recognition Award by HRH Princess Beatrice of York.
The Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator was given to Professor Louise Wilson OBE, course director of the Fashion MA at Central Saint Martins.
The event, hosted by Gemma Arterton and Nick Grimshaw, was attended by some of the fashion industry’s most important figures, among them Sarah Burton, Valentino, BFC Ambassador Samantha Cameron.
Harold Tillman said in a press release: “The British Fashion Awards are a significant event which represent the culmination of extraordinary talent, creativity and innovation across the whole industry.
“The ceremony provides the perfect conclusion to what has been an exceptional year for British fashion and we’re very proud to celebrate the achievements of all the nominees here this evening.”
