Whitney Houston has been featured in the latest issue of popular music magazine Rolling Stone.
The Rolling Stone’s front cover features an image of Whitney Houston and is emblazoned with the headline: “The Diva and Her Dark Side”
The article pulls no punches, describing the late star as a “diligent professional one moment, wild child the next”.
“Those were the opposing sides of Houston in her last days – and, it turns out, much of her life.”
The article features interviews with people who worked with Whitney Houston in the past and who could not understand her Jekyll and Hyde character, especially as it was not immediately apparent.
Among them is Gerry Griffith, the A&R man who in 1982 brought Whitney Houston to the attention of her future mentor, music producer Clive Davis.
Gerry Griffith said: “A lot of us talked about that, and no one could come up with an answer.
“Where is that rebellion coming from? It didn’t come out for a while.”
It was especially shocking, as Whitney Houston had initially been a shy girl, who had developed her impressive vocal chops from her time as a church choir singer.
